My converses squelched as I made my way in the general direction of the park. I didn't really want to be out on a rainy night, but Silena had stopped by and had pulled me out of my house, insisting Luke had a surprise for me at the park. Letting my curiosity get the better of me, I decided to see what was up.
I stepped past the weathered fence that served as the "entrance" to the park. The park basically consisted of paths leading off in different directions, with grass and trees filling in the spaces that weren't occupied with a dirt path. I squinted my eye- if my eye wasn't mistaken, I could see a hooded figure under that tree…
I was right. The hoodie the figure was wearing was light gray, the trademark hoodie Luke always wore. As if he could sense me, Luke turned around. I made my way quickly to him.
"What the Hades do you want?" I snapped before he could say anything.
"Pfft, you look like a girl," was all he could say, gesturing to the clear umbrella I was holding.
"Shut up. At least I'm smarter than you and I won't get cold," I smartly countered.
He rolled his eyes as he grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him. Normally, I would've cuddled up to him, but today, he was wet and cold- not something I wanted on my body right now.
I pushed away from him. "What's with the sudden affection today?"
He stared at me. "You're Japanese," he said, as if I didn't know already.
"Are you being racist?"
"No," he shook his head. "Today is March 14th. You should know what it is."
Before I should say anything, he whipped out a small box from his pocket and handed to me. I took it, confused.
"Open it," he prompted. Was that- a smirk on his face?
I slowly opened it. Inside, was a… white eyepatch.
"Happy White Day Ethan," he said, smirking.
I pursed my lips. Luke knew what was coming next. So on that rainy March 14th, I punched a tree in a fit of joy.
