A/N: This is my first Zack and Cody fic, and it's actually quite a departure from any of my other fics. Hope you enjoy, and this is just the first chapter.

There wasn't a person on the deck that didn't hear all the glasses crash to the floor. Cody Martin rolled his eyes and prepared to give his twin a lecture. He abruptly abandoned that idea when he saw why Zack dropped all of the glasses. There standing in the middle of the deck with a guilty look on her face, was Madeleine Fitzpatrick.

"Maddie!" he cried as he dropped all the towels in his arms and squeezed his friend hard.

"Cody," she rasped. "Can't breathe."

He quickly let go and stepped back. "Sorry," he said. "It's just so good to see a familiar face." He eyed Zack, who was still staring slack-jawed at Maddie completely oblivious to the customers in front of him asking for smoothie refills.

"Cody, who's your friend?"

He turned to see Bailey standing behind him with and expectant look on her face.

"Oh, right, Bailey Pickett meet Madeleine Fitzpatrick," Cody introduced. "She works at the hotel where me and Zack grew up."

Maddie extended her hand and said, "Please, call me Maddie."

Smiling, Bailey took Maddie's offered hand and answered, "It's a pleasure to meet you. Do you and Zack not like each other, or something? He hasn't even spoken to you yet."

"Wait for it," Cody told her.

As if on cue, Zack hopped over the smoothie counter and cried, "Maddie!"

"He's a little slow sometimes," Cody explained to Bailey.

"I'd noticed," she answered quietly.

Smiling, Maddie turned to face Cody's slightly more exuberant twin. "What took you so long?" she asked him.

"I was…I was thinking of how to say hi," he answered.

"And what did you decide?" she asked playfully.

"Well…" Zack never finished his sentence. He just stepped forward, put a hand on Maddie's face, and planted a kiss right on her lips.

Abruptly, they broke apart and stared at each other, wide-eyed. Cody and Bailey were looking at them open-mouthed.

"I, uh, I have to get back to work," Zack said, running back toward the smoothie counter.

"I, uh…whatever," she said before turning and jogging up the stairs to the observation deck.

"You know, I think that girl might have been cryin'," Bailey said.

Cody was still staring blankly into space. "He actually kissed her," he said. "And she actually kissed him back."

"I'm guessin' that's never happened before?" she asked.

"Bailey, Maddie used to babysit us," Cody told her in a frustrated stage whisper.

Bailey took a moment to process this. "Well, that does explain Zack's attraction," she said.

Cody pulled a face and said, "Ugh, Bailey, that's disgusting."

A wet towel hit Cody square in the head and covered his face. Bailey used a hand to suppress a giggle.

"Not nearly as disgusting as that," she told him.

Cody pulled the towel off, revealing an angry face. "This is serious, Bailey," he told her.

"Fine, I'll go talk to your friend, you go talk to your brother," she said as she turned toward the stairs.

Cody clutched the towel in his hand and marched toward the smoothie counter. Zack raised an eyebrow at his brother and said, "Yeah?"

Cody smacked his twin with the towel. When Zack started running away, Cody chased him around the deck yelling, "Have you completely lost your mind?"
