Before The Worst
I set the coordinates for my destination knowing that it was wrong, and dangerous; knowing that it wouldn't actually accomplish anything besides possible making me sadder. I sighed as I the TARDIS came to a rest. Again I gave myself the chance to turn back, but I just missed her smile so damn much.
It's been a while since the two of us talked
About a week since the day that you walked
Knowing things would never be the same
With your empty heart and mine full of pain
I walked out the doors of the TARDIS and started walking. I had to park a bit of a jog away from my destination because it was dangerous to have to TARDISes that close together in the same time. I checked my pocket watch; I was cutting it close.
So explain to me, how it came to this
Let's take it back to the night we kissed
It was Dublin city on a Friday night
With vodkas and coke, I was getting drunk.
I hurried over to a café and grabbing a newspaper I was down at an outdoors table. I had hurried and now I had a little extra time. How did I get reduced to this? I wondered as I waved a waiter off. I was willing to bend the rules of time travel and risk a paradox so bad the entire time line would be affected. She had wormed her way into my hearts and then vanished. I just had to see her again, before the accident, back when she was carefree, back before I broke her heart.
We were sitting with our backs against the world
Saying things that we thought but never heard
Who would have thought it would end up like this?
But everything we talked about is gone
And the only chance we have of moving on
Was trying to take it back before it all went wrong
Suddenly, there she was. She was standing in the middle of a crowd just standing there amazed that the world was still turning after what she had seen that day. She had just seen the end of the world. Well, her world anyways. It wasn't her world anymore.
Before the worst
Before we met
Before our hearts decided it's time to love again
Before today
Before too long
Let's try and take it back before it all went wrong
And then, there I was. I walked up behind her and took her hand. It was the old me, not the original, but the first me that Rose knew. It was the big ears and leather jacket me that I had eventually grown to love because Rose had loved him.
There was a time that we'd stay up all night
Best friends, yeah, talking till the daylight
Took the joys alongside the pain
With not much to lose but so much to gain
Rose smiled at him and my heart ached to have her smiling at me like that again. He told her about my planet. My secret for so long, it had been so hard to tell her. But she was worth the pain so I had told her. Watching now, I felt no sorrow for my people, only for Rose.
We were thinking we would never be apart
With your name tattooed across my heart
Who would have thought it would end up like this?
But everything we talked about is gone
And the only chance we have of moving on
Was trying to take it back before it all went wrong
I saw her nose perk up as she caught the smell of fresh chips from a shop a couple of blocks away from where I was. They took of in search of a snack, but before they did I could have sworn I saw Rose glance in my direction and smile. I ducked down behind the paper. How could she have known? She couldn't have. It was just a coincidence. Then again, she had always been special, brilliant even. She had been Fantastic.
Before the worst
Before we met
Before our hearts decided it's time to love again
Before today
Before too long
Let's try and take it back before it all went wrong
She still is, but now she's alone.
