Ron had just gotten home after dropping off Kim at her house so that she could get changed into her new battle suit. He was now up in his room getting changed into his mission gear. After Ron changed into his black shirt and grey cargo pants, he sat down on the end of his bed and started to put on his shoes. As he did this a feeling of dread came over him about the mission to rescue Erik and stop Dr. Drakken. It had nothing to do with the danger involved, he and Kim faced that on almost a weekly bases.
No, it had to do with who they were rescuing. Ron was not really in the mood to help make it so that Mr. Pretty Boy and Kim could be together. Ever since Ron was able to admit to himself the feelings that he had for Kim, Ron had grown a little more uneasy towards the guy. After all, Erik was the one who stole Kim from him. Okay, so she wasn't his Kim, but it hurt just as bad as if he and Kim had been dating.
Ron stood up and grabbed his utility belt, and as he did, he began to think about how he would rather be anywhere else. He thought about how he would even rather be back spending the summer at Camp Wannaweep then have to deal with this particular mission.
After Ron grabbed his backpack, he stopped in front of his mirror and took a look at himself. He wondered why he was doing this. After a moment's refection, Ron realized that there was there were three reasons. First, it was the right thing to do, second, regardless of him being with Kim, Eric was still an innocent victim, and the third and biggest reason was that Kim was his best friend and he would have her back whenever she needed him regardless of how much it hurt.
"Come on buddy, let's go save the world "Ron said. With that, Rufus jumped into Ron's pocket and snuggled down for the trip.
