Warrior's Lament

Together we roamed across the lands
sleeping under the shroud of night
The paths we've walked
have been long and many
We stayed loyal to each other
side by side each day
"I'll stay with you to the end," you said
My faithful friend

The nights we've been together
entwined in each other's arms
You and me
under the bleached white moon
Not a care in the world
and the world could hardly care
My tender lover

We knew it was inevitable
and things had to change
I was too wounded to follow
and march along to your crusade
After saving so many lives
you left me to go fight
Already you've been gone for too long
My brave warrior

I see you returning now
You look strong and well kept
but something's wrong
something missing.
The enemy has twisted your mind
You're one of them now
You no longer remember
the battles we've fought
or the places we've gone
and the nights we've spent together
Oh how I ache for you
My lost love and greatest enemy
