The Truth Hurts
Buffy Summers sat curled up on her bed. It was the summer after her senior year. Graduation had been hell. And Angel leaving. Sometimes being the slayer was asking for too much. Buffy let her mind drift to what had happened in the past year. Faith and Angel. The Mayor and Finally the ultimate show down at Graduation, which had ended with Sunnydale being blown up. Some how her mind centered on what had happen on the Christmas Eve of her senior year. A certain dream still seemed to plague her mind.
The dream had been one she had shared with Angel. Parts of it had almost seemed too real to be a dream. And there was something that was bothering her at the back of her mind. A half forgotten thought that was pleading to be remembered. Something told her that it was important. She would have to find out if real experiences could become dreams or dreamlike.
Buffy rolled off her bed to answer the phone. She picked it up on the second ring.
"Hi Buffy! It's Willow."
"Hi." Buffy said her voice did not sound enthusiastic. Willow heard the confusion in her friend's voice.
"Buffy, what is it? What's wrong?"
"Willow, tell me the truth. Can real events become dreamlike or be turned into dreams?"
"Why are you asking me this?"
"I had a dream that was too real."
"Yes." Was Willow's one word response. Buffy just stared straight out into space, as the phone slipped from her grasp.
It was real. It had to be.
The next Morning:
Willow and Buffy walked quick paced to Giles's apartment. Willow is trying to find out what has gotten Buffy so worried. She seems as if she is hiding something.
"What is it? Buffy, please tell me." Willow asked. They were almost at Giles's.
"Remember last Christmas?" Willow nodded. "I had a dream that seemed real. At least parts of it. Angel had the same dream."
"What
was it about?"
"Angelus."
