As I sit here on the train, I think to myself, how could I have ended up here? My name was only in there once. However, there is nothing I can do. I am going to have to rely on my mentor, Finnick Odair, for guidance. He won this game before. He was young too. If he can survive it at such a young age, I can too. I've never actually seen him before. So I don't know exactly if it was his strength that saved him, or if he got lucky. The moment I see him, my jaw drops. He is definitely very attractive. However, I can't let that distract me. At the same time, he is looking at me weird. Is he checking me out? No, he can't be. He is! Ok, refocus Annie! Your life is at stake! He sits me and my district partner down to talk about strategy. The more we talk, the more distracted I get. I don't understand why we are both so mesmerized by each other's presence. Eventually, we reach the Capitol, and we are forced to part for the Tribute Parade. Once that's over, we head to the apartment that we will be staying in for awhile. Over the next few days, I train fiercely, hoping to gain everything I can to help me survive. I also get some advice from him. I can tell he is giving me more advice than my district partner. It is obvious that he likes me and it is obvious that I like him. I can't let us get too attached to each other, because we both know I won't survive. The day finally arrives when we must part. Just before I set foot on the hovercraft, I go to hug him. He is shocked at first, but then he squeezes me tight. He whispers some encouraging words into my ear, and then we are pried apart. I hope this isn't the last time I see him. I have to make it back. I need to know more about him. There is something magnetic that has developed so quickly. I can't let that die with me. I have a feeling, if I die, he will too. Before I know it, I am in the tube that will bring me into the arena. The countdown begins. "3...2...1..." There's the siren and the fight for my life begins.
