Well then, hello humble reader. My name is Rarity but you may call me Miss Rarity. This story is one of the more exciting periods of my life, but for the sake of your understanding, you should know this is before my good friend twilight had come to Ponyville and I hadn't met any of the girls I am now associated with. No, this story is set in my younger years, after I opened the boutique in which I still work today. It revolves around, as most stories do, a stallion…
I was just finished designing one of my first dresses, a magnificent symphony of deep ultramarine and golden thread patterning stitched into waves and stars, when I heard the chime of my door ring. This was common in a shop of course and I quickly got up, trotting to the door and wondering who would want to come here on a Wednesday, surely they have to work. Entering the foyer, I was greeted to the sight of a truly magnificent looking stallion; a clean golden coat and fiery red mane making him blaze like the sun. "Welcome to carousel boutique, how may I help you?" I simply said to him. He looked at me with a pair of emerald eyes that could probably make a dragon wet himself or a mare swoon like a filly, but being the proper lady I am, I simply maintained a friendly smile.
"Yes, I was wondering if I could get a suit tailored here. I need it for a gala in Canterlot, it's rather important." He said. My thoughts were racing as he asked for the suit, my mind working on instinct as I found what he needed and pulled a rack of suits over to him. He started looking over each one, the dress coats all black or white with a colour coordinated handkerchief, shirt and top-hat. "Each of the suits can be made with any modification you'd like, from tails to cufflinks to a pattern stitched across the fabric, free of charge for custom jobs too." I said my prices simply, going to get a catalogue quickly before returning.
What I saw when I came back truly shocked me. His coat and mane were still the same but… different. It is only upon reflection that I realised his coat was now red and his mane a golden yellow. I suppose at the time I was more interested in making some bits to cover living costs for a few more days. Needless to say, I ignored his change of colour and asked him to stand upon the measuring podium, a notepad, pencil and piece of measuring tape floating over. I took his measurements, a generally awkward task at the best of times but in my somewhat infatuated state… I measured his thighs just a few extra times. If he did notice, he had the decency to ignore it.
Now I would just like to ingrain the fact that I was young, he was handsome and we were alone before you read the next part. It is uncouth, and I feel my actions must be justified.
After taking his measurements, I told him it would cost around three hundred bits to make the suit as he asked for it and after some haggling we managed to agree on two hundred and seventy five. I gave him a time to pick it up and he was about to turn to leave when I just leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. It was an innocent action I swear but it yielded… interesting results.
All of a sudden there was a flash of green light and I was dumbfounded by his second change in appearance, though this one was more pronounced. Where once he had been a stallion, now there stood a rather hideous insect-like creature. It had thin membranous wings sticking from its back and holes all through its limbs and horn, large blue eyes without pupils seemingly staring everywhere at once. His sudden change into this scaly black monster was a little too much and, in my shock, I fainted. This is where I shall begin my story.
