Iruka never considered Kakashi the cooking type; sure, they took turns making dinner (the one meal that, if neither of them was out on a mission, they were guaranteed to be together), but the man never cooked anything more elaborate than rice and miso soup.

So when Iruka came home one night after an especially stressful day of work to find Kakashi leaning into the oven and pulling out what appeared to be a half-burned chicken, and placing it down amongst the general mess that was once the kitchen, he couldn't help as burst out laughing, dropping his stuff and leaning against the wall in a futile effort to keep himself from simply tumbling unto the ground.

Five whole minutes of out-right laughing and a couple more of simply snickering found him face-to-face with a vaguely annoyed Kakashi, shirt stained three different colors and tiny chunks of food in his hair.

"Here I am, trying to do something nice for you to celebrate our one-year together, and you can do nothing more than stand there and laughed"(If questioned later, Kakashi would never admit he sounded like a nagging wife, and would simply claim his was a natural and fairly manly reaction to the whole thing)

When things finally clicked in the younger man's brain, the reason for the food, and why when he'd set off for work this morning he'd had the small, nagging sensation that he'd forgotten something. This only brought forth renewed peels of laughter, but before Kakashi could question it, he found a tan finger hooked on his shirt, pulling him forward and towards Iruka.

Of course, kissing led to groping, which led to grinding, which led to moaning, which inevitably led to clothes being ripped off as the two men tumbled to the ground, not even bothering it make it to bed, or even the sofa.

The only causalities were the burnt chicken, and a small packet of chilled strawberry's Kakashi had been saving for dessert. But judging from his reaction when Iruka kissed him, strawberry in mouth, it couldn't be said he minded all that much……
