Author: Silent Tears of Agony

Title: January Snow (I know, lame title.)

Chap: Oneshot

This is a pointless little ficlet. I just wanted to be able to write for some of the other manga/anime I read/watch. This is what I finally came up with. Kare Kano belongs to Masami Tsuda and not me. (:

Yukino glared out the window with hateful eyes. Though she shared a name with the snow that didn't mean she bore any affinity for it. A heavy snow like today's meant falling behind in tests she had studied hard for.

With a determined glint in her eye, Yukino turned from the window and changed into her school uniform. If she had to walk through the knee-deep snow, the whole way, she was going to school! Yukino's mother smiled cheerfully at her when she came out bundled in her heavy winter clothes.

"Going out to play with your sisters?"

"I'm going to school," Yukino corrected her mother.

"School!" Miyako dropped the plate she was washing. "But you can't get through the snow! Besides, all the schools are closed!"

"Closed?" The short girl looked crestfallen. "But . . . but I have homework that's due and exams to take!"

"They'll be there tomorrow," her mother gently reasoned. "For now, why don't you just have some fun in the snow."

Yukino chafed at her mother's suggestion. "But I don't like the snow," the girl whined as she stomped back to her room. Yukino again glared out the window, which now afforded her a perfect view of her sisters playing in the snow. Eventually, her sisters' antics improved her mood. Though she tried to fight the temptation to join them, she found herself doing so anyway.

"Alright, move over!" Yukino yelled out as she plowed through the snow. "I'll show you how to make a proper snowman!" Close to an hour later, the girls decided they were too cold to stay outside any longer.

Miyako served hot cocoa to her daughters after they had changed into warm clothes.

"Hey, did you know January is the coldest month of the year?" Kano asked no one in particular.

"Really?" Yukino responded to her sister's question. "Where did you learn that?"

"I don't remember," Kano replied. "In a magazine, perhaps?"

"Maybe if you didn't read your 'Money' magazines all the time, you would read the kind of magazines that teach you these things too," her other sister teased.

"You can fill your heads with useless knowledge," the redhead replied. "I won't be jealous when I'm busy counting all the money I've made as a successful lawyer." Yukino stuck her tongue out at her younger sister, sparking another argument.

-.-.-.-.-

That night, as Yukino gazed out at the melting snow, she actually hoped some of it would remain the next day when she went to school. A mischievous grin formed on the young girls lips.

"That way I'll be sure to give Soichiro and that Hideaki a good pelting!"

I had thought about including a scene where she actually carried out her evil thought against the two, but I was too lazy to continue the story that long.

Thank you for reading. :)
