Sunshine
Okay, this is set just after the end of Gridlock, when Valerie mentions the sunshine. Its hopefully angsty, and unhopefully short but what can you do?
Don't own Doctor Who, although if I did, Rose would still be here.
When the Doctor dropped back in to get his coat from Brannigan, they were all delighted to see him. "Oh Doctor!" Valerie cried. "Look at the sunshine."
The Doctor faked a smile but Valerie's delight didn't have the same effect on him. Martha could tell something had upset him, and grew quite annoyed when he wouldn't say what it was.
When the TARDIS was in flight again, he pulled a photograph out of his pocket and looked at it. The picture depicted a girl with short blonde hair, in a purple T-Shirt, sunbathing on the grass outside New New York's hospital. She was now trapped in the parallel world, with no hope of returning.
Without Rose, for the Doctor there would never be any sunshine
