Batman Beyond: The Mark of Ceza

The television blared throughout the Bat-cave.

"Today former D.a Sam Young announced his intentions to run for the mayoral seat left vacant by retiring Mayor Hill. An impromptu press conference was held outside city hall alongside his wife Commissioner Gordon." The announcer said over the screen.

District attorney Sam appeared on screen holding Barbara Gordon's hand as he made his announcement.

:"After some careful consideration I have come to the decision to announce my candidacy for mayor. It was a tough decision but in the end the will of the people won out."

The male announcer came over the screen again.

"When asked about the vigilante known as the Batman the former D.a had this to say."

"The official policy of the police department is to arrest the vigilante known as the Batman and I don't see any reason for that to change."

A swarm of reporters descended upon the D.a as he went inside.

"Needless to say the leading candidate Councilmen Donald Chang weighed in on today's announcement."

The news cast switched to the short balding councilman.

"Sam will be a trust worthy opponent I look forward debating him. Of course running Gotham's criminals behind bars and running a city is two different things." The councilmen said with a sheepish smile.

Bruce turned off the screen using his remote.

"Ouch!!!!" Terry gritted his teeth in order to avoid the pain in his chest.

Bruce wrapped the final bandage around Terry's chest before cutting slack end of the bandage.

"There I'm done."

Terry slammed his fist against the side of the chair.

"I can't believe I let them get away!"

Bruce turned his attention to the mangled Bat suite before him.

"Any idea on who our perps are?" Terry asked putting on his shirt.

"Not yet but I'm currently running likenesses against Interpol criminal files.".

The computer continued running through the files of various agencies trying to find a match for any of the thieves from the docks.

Terry studied the faces carefully.

"Looking for our new friend from earlier tonight?" Bruce asked holding up the shredded Bat suit.

"He said his name was César or something."

"I heard him over the com-link. He pronounced it as Chay-zah."

"Is it supposed to have any special meaning?"

Terry carefully lifted his shirt over his head.

"Yes it's a Turkish word."

"Are you going to let me in on the secret or am I going to have find out from the bad kids at school?"

"Don't be a smart ass." Bruce shot back.

"So are you going to tell me or what?"

"It means punishment. Who ever our friend is he seems to have some sort of vendetta against this syndicate. I'll continue to search around the net and see what I come up with."

"Well when you find out I want a chance to repay my new friend for his little souvenir. "

Terry slowly messaged his chest to make himself more comfortable.

"This is going to be hard to hide this in gym tomorrow."

Bruce continued sowing up the deep slashes left in the suit.

"It will heal," He said in his dead pan demeanor.

Terry reached down flinging his back pack over his shoulder

"Don't forget to pick up my Tuxedo after school. We have a busy schedule tomorrow Sam is going to be throwing a fundraiser and I want to look my best. "

The old man reminded him.

"How could I forget?"

Terry jumped on his bike and rode off out of the Bat cave.
