A.N. Here's a Giant Squid fic! I love him so much. Anyway, here's to Squiddly.
The giant Squid thought that he was a very noble creature. Thank you very much.
Compared to those rather rude Grindylows who would often tease him by biting his tentacles. Granted, it didn't hurt physically, but waking up from a sleep to feel a small bit of pressure on your tentacles wouldn't make you the happiest squid in the world. Would it?
No!
Even the Merpeople were a nuisance, who often swam around, and under his tentacles. Their singing would also interrupt his sleep. The little Merchildren even poked fun at him, now and again, with their little spears. Though it was the simplicity of ignoring them, it was often hard to. They always did it as soon as he stopped moving.
The one thing that many would have been surprised to hear, was that those puny wizards were his favourite thing. He loved the pure wonder on the faces of those 'first years' when they looked at him. The squid also loved how they would throw him food, and sometimes sit on the beach talking to him, like an equal.
He also loved how the students would play with him, tickling his tentacles sometimes. They would always stop to say hi, when he wanted them to.
If the giant squid could be anything else, he wished to be human.
They interested him, instead of the dullness or irritating creatures that surrounded him. The squid could only listen to them, watch them, as they performed their magic. He once even saw a flying 'car'.
Now, when the giant squid was a squidling in a canal, he remembered that cars were solely used for ground transportation. Now they were flying in the sky because of these wizards! The squid only wished to be a wizard.
Now the giant squid never said he hated being a squid. Though he could not speak a language like the wizards or merpeople, the giant squid was content doing what he did. If he had not been a squid, who could those wizards talk to when the were troubled? Who would those wizards find the happiness in throwing excess food to?
The wizards were noble creatures too, but the giant squid knew he was needed as a squid.
He was content with that.
