The Shipper

This just randomly popped into my head at lunch today. No clue how, or why.

"This is the color war, Paulette. Doesn't that mean anything to you?"

Lapis felt goose bumps wrap round and up her arms when the pair on screen kissed.

"You okay, Lazuli?" Peridot was sitting close enough to her that she felt Lapis shiver.

"Yeah, I guess so. But this pairing is-I like Percy and Pierre better."

Peridot threw her arms up in the air ."I know!"

Lapis reached for the remote to turn the TV off.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Lazuli! What are you doing?" Peridot said, smacking her hand away while continuing to watch the show.

"Turning this off. I thought you said you liked the other pairing better." Lapis shrugged.

"No, no. First of all, it's apparently called a 'ship', and second of all-"

Peridot started explaining how she still wanted to watch it, despite of the unwanted ship.

This lasted about an hour.

Lapis shook her head in the middle of the explanation and walked away. Then she spread her wings and took off. As she flew higher, she saw the outline of Beach City below. "Hm." She said to herself. "I suppose I should look for Steven and see what he's up to."

She landed on the beach.

Looking around, she saw a bunch of humans that she could see being together. "Ships." She whispered.

She walked into the donut shop to see if Steven was there. No Steven, but there were two humans flirting at the counter.

"Oh, hey." Said the blonde. She tilted her head. "Did you come for donuts?"

Lapis squinted ."I ship you two."

The blonde was taken aback. "Whattttt…."

The red-haired one's mouth became a thin line at the bottom of his mouth. His cheeks turned bright red. "What did you just say?"

Lapis shook her head. "I ship you two."

The blonde raised her eyebrows." So did you come for donuts or not?"

"What are donuts?" Lapis said.

"Okay, never mind." The red-haired one then conked out on the counter, and the blonde started yelling at him.

Lapis walked out of the donut shop.

She passed many other people in the city, repeating the words ,'I ship you' over and over.

Then she saw Steven and Connie together, finally.

"I ship you two." She said.

Connie blushed and rubbed her arm, slowly walking away.

"Lapis..? What was that?" Steven asked.

Lapis sighed. "Yet apparently people don't appreciate the ships when they are clearly happening."

Steven looked up, confused. Then he walked away.

"Well, that was a waste of time." She muttered. "I guess I'll go back to the barn to watch the rest of Camp Pining Hearts with-"

Then she stopped short. She hadn't shipped herself with anyone yet.

Then she knew exactly who she wanted to be shipped with her.

The same exact episode from before was playing on the screen by the time she got back. "Hey."

The other didn't look up. She was whispering the lines that were currently being said by the characters onscreen.

"Um, hello? Are you in there?" Lapis said.

This time Peridot looked up. "Oh, hello. Where did you go? I thought you wanted to watch Camp Pining Hearts with me."

"I didn't before," Lapis said. "But I do now."
