The Great Hall had a low hum of Chatter. A Yule Ball, having been announced just two days ago, was still fresh on every girls mind.
"Who was going to ask them?"
"Would he be a upperclassmen?"
"Would he be from Dumbstrung?"
"It's pronounced Durmstrang, Lavender."
Hermione sighed, content to get reading her book, taking pieces of toast every now and then. A flurry of wings started above her.
Ah, the mail must be here, Hermione paid no mind, eyes still riveted on the differences between gall-hopping frog and a musically inclined toad.
Just as she reached for her toast, something fell with a thump onto her plate. Ron looked up, bits of egg sticking to his upper lip.
"You got a package?" He motions to the quite obvious package, wiping his mouth with the back of his sleeve.
"Yes, and you do know the thing called a napkin?" The tips of his ears flushed red.
Closing her book, and placing it in her bag, Hermione reached for the parcel. But the second the tips of her fingers touched it, it had another idea.
Whirring up and slowing unfolding itself above the heads, which had all turned to look, of the students. It started to make a horrendous noise, like someone screeching. Harry was halfway out of his seat, wand in hand, when it exploded with confetti.
"HERMIONE!" A voice boomed from the box, which still was throwing confetti everywhere, "WILL YOU ATTEND THE YULE BALL WITH THE GREATEST," A image started to appear, "MOST HANDSOME," It was still fuzzy, what with the fireworks that were now shooting out of the box, "AMAZING BEATER EVER TO GRACE HOGWARTS?" Hermione groaned at the now clear image. "MESSAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY BUT MOSTLY FRED!"
A everyone was still paying attention to the display, Hermione heard a soft "Will you?" . Turning around and facing the twin she could only guess to be Fred, Hermione was in stunned silence.
A few beats later, "SAY YES!" Lavender shouted, bringing all eyes to them.
A sigh, a stunned "Yes,", and Hermione was having flowers shoved at her face, the student body (minus the Slytherins who were upset over their disrupted breakfast), cheered.
