HALLOWEEN

I went tick-or-treating with my friends Alisea, Myri, and Flinn. Our pillowcases were full of candy, and it was getting late, so my friends wanted to go home. I wanted a few more chocolate bars so I turned to my friend and said "Let's knock on a few more doors and then head for home. They were worried because they thought it was already too late. "Let's go home now," they said to me. I told them not to worry because we could take a shortcut through the old forest. So after a few more houses, I took my friends to the path that went through the forest. We walked about 20 minutes, and then, suddenly, I felt very strange. I couldn't remember the way! It was dark and foggy. We were lost. And to make matters worse, it started to rain. And then, it started to pour. Lightning lit up the sky and thunder rang in our ears. We wandered around for over two hours. We were very wet and very cold. And then, at about midnight, I saw an old abandoned house on a hill."I think we'll have to spend the night in that old house and wait till morning," I said. My friends didn't think it was a good idea, but they were cold and wet, so they agreed. We walked up the old wooden steps to the front door. The door creaked open and we went inside, sat down, and started to eat a chocolate bar, when…

We heard a noise. It sounded like faint laughter. We wondered if we were alone or not. "Must be the wind", said Flinn. "Since we are alone, let's go and explore the place" said Alisea with a smile on her face. The stairs to the second floor creaked and cracked on every move we made. Cobwebs made a door at the end of the stairs. Upstairs was warmer for all of the heat from summer must have risen to the second floor. "I'm exhausted can we go to sleep please" wined Myri. Again we heard the faint laughter and this time it sounded closer. Suddenly we heard footsteps slowly coming up the stairs. We got frightened and ran down the hall. At the end was a tall wooden door and we opened it and ran in. It was a bed room. Quickly we all hid under the bed. For a moment there was absolute silence, but then we heard someone running down the hall towards the bedroom. The door slammed open, and we screamed in terror, but no one was standing in the door way. "I have enough of this hell house. I'm not going to wait for dawn, come on let's go" said Flinn. We all got out from under the bed and ran down the hall, down the stairs, "Stay I want to play" shouted a laud voice. "We don't want to play" I shouted in return, and out the door we went in to the rain, leaving our candy behind so we could run faster. As we ran through the front lawn I looked over my shoulder and saw a small gray figure next to the front porch. It looked like a little girl about my age, but I didn't care. If she wanted the candy she could have it, we didn't want it any longer. We ran for about an hour; rain splashing into our faces, until we saw a light. It took us a moment to notice that it was street lights. We ran out of the forest, on to the street, and we didn't stop until we arrived at myhome. Naturally, I got grounded for staying out so late. Now whenever the clock says 9 o'clock, I go home no matter what. We never returned to the haunted house. Still when I close my eyes. I can still see the young girl standing next to the front porch of the old house.
