Flower Child

It was nearly winter and on the outskirts of Maxville, playing in the Backyard of a tall set of flats, was a small girl. She would have been about four, with shoulder length red hair and green eyes. The girl was wearing a green top and a pair of dungarees embroidered with flowers and animals. And standing watch over her was a Woman, who looked exactly the same as the small child apart from her eyes, which instead of green were a deep earth brown.
If someone, at that moment, had passed down the alleyway that ran down the back of the yard. They would have seen something truly astonishing.
The girl placed her hands in one of the pots of soil, which earlier in the year had held a bush of blood red roses, and she asked the plant to grow again. For this little girl loved flowers, and all plants, but these roses were her favourite; as they were a gift from her Father to her Mother before he left, and it was the sole thing she could remember of him.
But instead of the little Girl bursting into tears, as she usually did when the roses' didn't obey her. The girl laughed, and to the mothers obvious surprise the rose bush grew and then bloomed until the pot was overflowing with striking red roses.
It took several hours for the women to drag the child away from the plant and into the relative safety of the house; and from then on the girl had a way with all plant. But the strangest thing, and the thing that eats away at both the Mother and the Childs mind to this day, is that the rose bush never withered and never died. It stayed in full bloom, as stunning as the day she first grew it. For even now, although it has been moved many a time, the rose bush is still thriving, producing the most sought after roses of all time.
P.s. A huge thank you to Brown-Eyed Angel1234 my very first reviewer. Thanks sooooooooo much!
