Bobby Drake's body heat runs a bit higher than a normal teen and he speculates it has something to do with his ability, freezing things. As if he pulls the coolness from his own body out. He's suffered from heat exhaustion from time to time because of it. And he's figured out that to keep his body at an operational level he has to do things some would consider odd.
He takes cold showers, and not just because he's a guy with guy thoughts about Rogue, Kitty, and nearly every teenage girl in the mansion. Because while the cool water runs over his body and into his skin, he feels nearly normal, as if his insides aren't constantly burning. Bobby soaks in cold baths too for the same reason. It's almost like he's replenishing himself of the coldness he's pushed out of his body with he uses his mutant power. As first he didn't realize he was actually drawing in the icy quality of the water, he just thought it felt good, and that's really the only reason a teenage boy needs to do something.
But then Dr. McCoy made a breakthrough on one of the newer, inexperienced mutants and postulated a test to Bobby. A test that only involved a saucer of water surrounded by paper towels.
"Now Bobby, I have a theory in regards to your powers, if you'd be so kind as to humor me for a short while." Drake shrugged his shoulders, Dr. McCoy's theories tended to be pretty harmless according to some of the other students, even the ones would thwarted whatever theory the good doctor was considering at the time.
"Excellent, now your power, to manipulate the freezing state of water opens the door for many numerous possibilities. I'd like you to try something." The blue haired man indicated to the saucer with what looked like a temperature probe Bobby had noticed on the lab table. "Think about the way you move ice, and project that to the water there, however I'd like you to attempt not to freeze it as you normally would. Pull its core temperature down if you need to, but try to keep it above 32 degrees."
Bobby looked from the saucer to the doctor and back to the water. He had never tried moving water, liquid water, before, but it made perfect sense that he should be able to. And if he could, without taking away from the coldness he greedily harbored within, then all the better.
AN: Just something that came to me while outside in the rain. But can Bobby do it? We'll see...
