Edward Elric's new alarm clock these days became the piercing cry of his newborn child. For the past 2 weeks since his birth his son refused to sleep at night.

He and Winry had begun taking turns soothing the child during all hours of the night, with Ed going a couple of times in a row while Winry rested; it was a bit of a gift to her saying sorry for making carry a child for 9 months and then having to go through 9 hours of labor.

Tonight it was Ed's turn again as he got up to quiet the child. Winry stirred in the bed but didn't wake. Ed made his way into the little boy's room and plucked the crying infant from his crib. He sat in a chair and rocked him back and forth. "Ssh…" he cooed.

The child himself was like a little miracle to the new parents at any other time of day. He had a small amount of wispy golden hair at the top of his head and brightest blue eyes he'd ever seen, though Winry still hoped they'd turn gold soon, seeing as how most babies are born blue eyes that eventually change color.

It was hard figuring out how to be parents when neither he nor Winry really knew their own parents, whose graves they frequently visited. They somehow survived though.

Ed smiled as the child quieted with the cutest smile on his little face. Alchemy could do a lot, but it could never create something as amazing as the small being in his arms.

The next morning Winry Elric awoke to find her husband was not in bed, which was odd considering he slept til' noon whenever he was given the chance. She slipped out of bed in her nightgown and went in search of him. She was almost stumped until she heard a light snore coming from the baby's room. She tiptoed in on the cutest thing she'd ever seen.

Edward was asleep in the chair next to the crib holding their sleeping child, who also snored lightly, to his chest. Like father, like son. Winry lightly skipped out and came back with a camera and a mischievous smile adorning her face. "Roy is gonna love this!" she giggled and snapped the picture.

After that she went to the kitchen to start breakfast. She was just about to grab a pan when arms wrapped around her waist. She screamed slightly in surprise. Ed chuckled behind her. Winry put a hand to her heart to calm herself down. "Didn't know you were awake…" she said. He lightly squeezed her.

"You liar." Her eyes widened and she knew she was caught. "You're in big trouble…" She feigned innocence.

"Whatever do you mean, oh wonderful husband of mine?"

"Where's the camera?"

"What is this camera you speak of?" she giggled and ran for the table where the camera sat. He chased her. They stumbled around the house for a few minutes until Ed caught her at the couch. "No stop!" she giggled.

"Evidence…it must be destroyed…" Ed held the camera above where she could reach.

"Noo!"

"Then do you promise not to send it to The Bastard?" Winry rolled her eyes but complied.

"Okay…" he smiled.

"Good." He leaned down to kiss her. They were thoroughly enjoying the moment when an infant's cries brought them back to reality. Ed rolled to the other side of the couch.

"Your turn," He informed her. She childishly stuck her tongue out and went to get the baby.

Central Headquarters, a week later

"Well well, look at what Fullmetal's been up to…" Roy Mustang wore an amused smirk as he looked at his mail.
