The Pain that Parting Brings

Does the pain ever end?
Even after his memory failed him, his heart did not. Even though the faded memories of the past had long left him, he still the bore the burden of a broken heart.
Do scars ever truly heal?
His countless injuries still hurt him, day after day, especially during the cold wintry seasons. The bitterness seeped deep into his bones and old wounds making them throb, reminding him of past battles and fallen friends and dusty hopes.
Does one ever fully forget the pain that parting brings?
It still bothered him, like a name, title, something that was just out of his reach but yet to dim to be fully remembered. But, even though it may dim, the pain is still sharp and fresh. As always.
He knows that it will plague him his entire life, and maybe he deserved it. Maybe he didn't. He didn't have the right to judge fate, even in his old age.
He can't wait to reach Dark Forest. Some may say that he was a coward, waiting for death to take away the sorrows of life. All he knows is that once they are together again, they will never ever have to say goodbye.
A/N: For all who didn't get it, this was a Martin/Rose, with Martin mourning Rose at the end of his life. Yes I know, terribly clichéd and short but I have recently gotten in the Redwall mood again.
(after about 1 year I am actually in the mood to get down the dusty volumes of my shelf and actually read them. Unfortunately I am not a home and cannot so I am going crazy. The one time I want to read Redwall again I can't. Redwall is my favorite series ever even though I haven't read them in a while only because I read them all at least 100 times each-MtW, Mossflower, and LoL even more-and got a tiny bit sick of them since I could practically recite the lines of books and songs by heart-especially the ones in MtW but now I am back into daydreaming, writing, and roleplaying with them.!)
And when I get into the Redwall mood I only write about Martin because he is my favorite character out of the Redwall books (and any other books(I LOVE MARTIN!!) and the only one I like writing about-actually the only one I have tried writing about, maybe I will try other characters soon.
This is just a side point:
I know I should be writing SSA (Harry Potter story-don't ask my why I am writing about that series while right know I can't really stand the books) but my inspiration has fallen a bit short and I am a bit stuck on the plot since the chapter four that was put up wasn't supposed to be put up so I will either have to delete it or change around the plot to finish my story. Also, I find Redwall more enjoying to write right now, so that it what I will be doing. Yeah.
