Prologue:

Blades danced in the moonlight, sending arrows of light flitting amongst the shadows that enveloped most of the clearing. Two figures, one that of a young man, the other a grotesque assortment of scrap, clashed violently in a show of brutality, illuminated as the moon bathed the arena in silver curtains. The monstrosity stood twice as high as its adversary due to the lanky legs ending in goat-like hoofs. An assortment of several weapons, including a rapidly spinning buzz-saw and an axe that produced a buzzing noise, reminiscence of a swarm of angry wasps, when swung were wielded onto joints which were in turn attached to a skeletal body. A single crimson eye was set in the metal orb of the creatures head, joined to the body by a serpentine neck. The other figure was dressed in a simple attire of blue shorts, shirt. A green bag was swung around their shoulders and a bear hat rested upon the mop of blond hair that had escaped from its grasp. A simple green blade whirled in his right hand, gracefully cutting through the air. Partially embraced by shadows, a yellow canine lay unmoving on the floor.

Finn held his sword in a defensive stance, bracing himself for the impact. His teeth rattled as the club sailed into his weapon." Oh Grob, this guy is good!" muttered Finn as his grass blade quickly extended thick tendrils to regenerate the torn stems. Finn quickly took in his would be assassin. Already of noting the superior strength and speed, the boy now turned his attention to finding any weaknesses. His eyes were quickly drawn to the things head. It's eye radiated heat so intense the air shimmered, ripples on a still pond. Knowing it was his only lead, Finn pulled back his sword arm to its full extent and plunged the blade deep into the mini sun. It buried itself up to the hilt. Quick as a storm the boy was upon his adversary, flicking the blade so it span like a top. It tore through the metal as if it was paper, destroying the wires and ending the creatures agony.

A brief minute later and Finn was lying in a pool of his brothers congealing blood. He didn't know how this had happened, how he was by his best friend as his last breaths rattled from his chest. Why? Was the only question he could ask himself. "F-Finn, that you buddy?" came the rasping voice, sandpaper sharp. Finn choked back his sob but could not hold onto the tears which fell, tiny islands amongst a sea of melancholy. "Here man." "Your gonna be fine, ok?" A small chuckle escaped the mouth of Finns companion, clotted with blood as his friend had desperately attempted to heal the mortal wounds. "Your a terrible liar brah, Mum always said so" Finn took a moment of bliss , remembering his strict Mother and her strange obsession with safety. "Perhaps I could've helped you if we'd listened to her manual," Finn teased and they both erupted into laughter. "Promise me this," said Jake, suddenly serious."Tell Lady I cherish our time together." Solemnly Finn nodded. "Hey Finn? "Hm?" "Let the dragon drag on man, let the dragon drag on." Finn smiled and lay down next to his brother until his last breath fled to the heavens and his soul played viola in harmony with the angels.
