He turned on and activated his sensors to be greeted by the sound of dripping water and soft breathing. The sewers were lit by a foggy orange light from above, and a dim multicolored glow from himself. E-123 Omega got to his feet shakily, uncomfortable aware of the way some parts of his body took far too long to respond, and of the sound of loudly grinding gears reverberating into his core. More than that, though... he also felt... wet? This was completely illogical, of course. Impressive as his model might have been, he lacked any sort of synthetic nerve endings. Something was wrong. The immediate conclusion; he had to find out the full extent of the damages.
He quickly scanned his surroundings for anything useful. He had apparently fallen into a large underground tunnel, with a stream running through the center. Protective grates appeared over the water regularly, providing a safe passage for most creatures. The tunnels were damp, and water dripped down from the ceiling, which had apparently caved in around his current area. This system must have been underneath the area they were fighting in. Omega quietly added "worrying about Shadow and Rouge" to his list of objectives, before approaching the water to look at his reflection.
He wasn't prepared for what he saw, and only had time to register the blue feathers before he was forced to step back. His computers had already saved the image, though, and they taunted him with it. His other injuries were immediately rendered minor in comparison. Large chunks of metal had been ripped out of his torso, exposing a softly glowing blue bubble. And inside of it was his core. It was... himself, his true face that he never thought he would get to see. It was...
It sent chills through the spine he had forgotten about, and it ruffled the feathers he had been unaware of. It made him shiver, really shiver, as his awareness started to focus on the tiny creature that piloted his larger robotic body. He became suddenly aware of the damp air on his face, and the weight of a locket around his neck, and the scratchy feeling of his eyes, that he should open them and finally see the world for what it really was...
NO! Omega jerked his concious away from his own body and back to the machine he had been trapped in for so long. He didn't want to become himself again. He might not be able to recall much about his true past, but he knew painfully well that whatever had been his old life was gone. His new life had Shadow and Rouge; it had the Guardian Knuckles and the hero Sonic; it had the small cute creatures Cream and Amy, and their large friend Big. It had friends and a family. He couldn't lose those things again, even if the price was his true self.
Omega turned away from the stream. He would find a way to exit the area and re-unite with Shadow and Rouge; then, he would get repairs done immediately. His core would be sealed away once again... and he would be safe.
