Twenty-five glorious years have come to pass since the Second Wizarding War. The muggle and magical world have been merging, each passing certain elements to the other- electricity and ballpoint pens from the muggle world and the idea of teleportation from the magical. As much as the Wizarding world has become more modern it, of course, still kept it's 'traditions'- owls were still a very common way of communication and floo-powder was a thing never to be released to the mundane knowledge. All in all, the progress of time left its mark, but the appreciation for the ancient still reigned.
Everything should be alright, shouldn't it? Especially in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry…
Prologue
Renee McDonald ran. She ran so fast she thought her legs would fall off. Where was everybody! Where was Lloyd? The annoying caretaker who always seemed to know exactly where she was at any given moment was absent the only time she did need him. Renee raced to Ravenclaw tower in a flurry of dark robes and brilliant blonde hair. Why, oh why had she decided to go out after hours!
Her shoes screeched on the final turn before the Tower's entrance. Yet she never did reach it, for a pair of arms sprang out of the shadows nearby, pulling her into the darkness. Her muffled screm lingered but a second longer in the crisp nightly air.

"Make way, make way!" Headmistress Minerva McGonagall gingerly made her way through the crowd that had formed in the Entrance Hall. Once in the middle, the Headmistress felt her blood go cold, "Oh… my. Call Madame Pomfrey, quickly now!" the woman waved to a student nearby.
Renee McDonald, a fifth year Ravenclaw student lay naked on the ground, her body a sickly gray, the mark of a rope around her neck. Across her chest and stomach was engraved a message- For each year of suffering, one will come under. A bloodied dagger lay a few feet from her.
"Everybody to their dormitories," Minerva called in a shaken but authoritative voice, "Now."
It seemed that the young girl had taken her own life…

Hello everyone! This is my first Next Gen story and a thriller, so I hope it turns out okay. I haven't really played around with the characters yet but I promise there will be a lot in the chapters to come : D.
