"Students, a new task for our school will be Pen Pals," Ms. Darbus announced in front of her class. "I've selected someone from Australia for each of you, you'll write to them today and when they reply, straight away, you get writing and send it back, I want at the end of each week for you to show us all your letters," she added.
Ms. Darbus began reading out names of her students and students to match. "Gabriella Montez is writing to Danielle Fischer," Ms. Darbus announced. "Gabriella, you'll be showing us your letter as soon as you get a reply, get writing now!" Ms. Darbus exclaimed.
So Gabriella began writing.
--ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD, IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA--
Ms. Rosebury announced in front of her Year 11 class of Wattle Secondary, "Welcome Students, we're beginning a new program of Pen Pals and we're writing to a school in New Mexico, America. Each of you will be getting a different student from their school," she announced. "Danielle, you're paired with a girl called Gabriella Montez," Ms. Rosebury announced. "You need to show us your letter when she sends you one," she added.
So Danielle began writing.

Dear Danielle Fischer,
My name is Gabriella Montez. I go to East High. I am taught by Ms. Darbus. I have a passion for singing and my friend Kelsi accompanies me when I sing. We have stage shows and my arch enemy in the stage shows is Ms. Sharpay Evans and her brother Mr. Ryan Evans.
I enjoy doing maths, and my friend Taylor is in the same class as me. We're great at it and we are currently participating in a national competition. We've beaten all schools we've played against and our ranking so far is 10th in the country.
Taylor's close friend is Chad. Chad plays basketball with one of his best friends, Troy Bolton, who's father coaches the basketball team in East High. Coach Bolton also teaches the Physical Education of the school.
We have a new gym on the way, and there we can test our strength and prepare ourselves for the East, West, North and South High competitions. In this upcoming competition, I will be participating in the Maths Section and the Running.
