Good & Evil

The moon being as lovely as it is, is still evil. We all carry good, bad, devils, and angels. Being a guardian of it all is hard yet easy. My name is Alexander Koran. I am a vampire of the northern cities. When I was just but a child I was proclaimed prince and guardian of the moon and opposites. I was forever to be split.

My life was always full of lessons and hardships. Except for my dear friend Alena Emerald. She was my love, my life, and my hate. She would always be there for me when I needed her. She would often come to the palace to take me to places that she had discovered. We would always do things together, but that night changed everything.

Alena didn't know it was going to be a full moon, neither did I. She had come by to take me to the lily pond to watch the fairies play. Being the first full moon of my 16th birthday was very dangerous. There was just no way to tell when there was going to be a full moon. I could tell something was wrong by how I felt. I had told Alena that I wasn't feeling good, but she begged me to go with her because this was the last night to see the fairies. I wish I hadn't gone because that night changed me forever.

As Alena and I walked down to the pond where the lilies were, the clouds slowly moved away from the moon. The pond was beautiful. Filled with fairy dust and lights from the village. I decided to tell Alena. We started running and I finally got Alena to the ground. I kissed her gently and told her I loved her. She didn't say anything, she just smiled and agreeing and pleasing smile and closed her eyes ready for another kiss. Suddenly I felt vicious and blood-thirsty. I looked up to see the moon in full view and felt utterly evil. I dove down onto Alena's neck and began to drink her blood. She screamed in pain and agony, but I couldn't let go. She was like a chew toy to a dog. I finally let go of her, her blood dripping from my fangs, I looked at her. She had stopped moving. I realized I had killed my love.

The next day I awoke fully energized in my bed until I had remembered what I had done. I sat up and got dressed and ran down the winding staircase to the grand room were I found Alena dressed in her crystal gown lying in a silver coffin. I walked slowly over to her. Each step I took froze my blood as I gazed upon her lifeless body. I bent over her and kissed her gently and whispered "I'm sorry." I walked out of the room in tears for my love.

Many years later I had become king of the moon and opposites just as it was said. I had three children and I had fell in love with Alena's sister Nattily. No one hated me for what I had done. Alena's parents never shunned me for I was able to wed their daughter Nattily. They did fear me and feared for their daughters life at times, but they still respected me. Nattily and I still live today being immortal vampires. I will always remember what I did to Alena. It shows in my wife and children. It no longer haunts my dreams, but I do often think about it. Realize this: The moon being as lovely as it is, is still evil. We all carry good, bad, devils, and angels. Learning how to control these opposites is what makes you great and powerful.
