Ike ran about the makeshift home in search of his best friend, or as he put it, 'most bestest friend in all of Tellius!' with the slight lisp included. He searched up and down, and even checked cabinets in the small kitchen.

Today was a special day. Well, for Ike anyways. Today marked his eighth birthday. He was looking forward to getting the gifts, eating the yummy cake Oscar would whip up, and spending time with his friends and family. Besides Shinon, but, you know.

He opened the doorway that led into the small library, where his friend was usually found. Opening the large door proved to be of some effort to the small boy, and upon opening the door he'd wondered how in the world Soren was able to enter.

He called out to Soren, a large amount of joy flooding his voice. "Soren! Soren, you in here?"

In response, Ike saw the smaller boy crawl from behind the aisle of books he was in, red eyes skeptical and puzzled. He motioned for Ike to come back by him.

Ike ran up to him, a big, boyish grin plastered on his face. He saw that Soren had been stacking books, only light ones.

"Guess what, Soren! Today is my birthday! So that means you have to play with me all day long!" Soren just looked at him, obviously confused. "You remember, last year we had cake and everyone had to do what I said, huh?"

"Oh. Okay then." Soren nodded and continued stacking the books, obviously not understanding Ike wanted him to stop it. " Happy Birthday."

Ike grabbed Soren by the waist and flung him into his arms, knocking the books out of Soren's grasp. Ike wrapped his arms around Soren and gently hugged him. "That means you have to play with me. Not stack books."

Soren looked up into Ike's warm, childish eyes. He lay his small head upon Ike's chest and nodded slowly. Ike pushed away and grabbed Soren's tiny hand, pale and soft.

"First, let's go wake up Father, then we'll go get Oscar to make me a cake. It'll be fun!" Soren tightened his grip on Ike's hand and allowed him to lead him through the fort.

Ike stopped for a moment, admiring some roses growing outside a small window. "Look, Soren! They match your eyes!" He reached out the window and plucked one. "Here, let me, just….!" Ike put the rose behind Soren's ear, holding back his long hair. "So pretty, just like you!"

Soren stood on his toes and leaned into Ike. He pecked Ike's lips, his face turning a bright pink. He looked into those blue eyes, unsure of what his actions might bring Ike to do. Ike just smiled down on the boy.

"What was that about?" he giggled when Soren's face began to match both the rose and his eyes.

"My gift. Happy Birthday."

Ike leaned down and kissed Soren's tasty lips, yearning for more of the sweet taste. Soren had his arms around Ike's neck, Ike's around his waist. When they broke their little, innocent kiss, Ike hugged Soren.

"Good. That's all I want from you. Now, let's go find Oscar! I'm hungry! I mean, sure, you are a tasty snack," he giggled, "but not enough to fill my tummy!"

Soren smiled to himself over Ike's childish thoughts.

Ike's birthday wish that day was for Soren to stay with him forever, no exceptions.
