Wolf was cradling the last can of tomatoes breathing in the smell of her sheets. He vowed to himself he wouldn't eat them until Scarlet came back, IF she came back. It physically hurt for him to even think about what could be happening to her on Luna, of what could have happened to her. The more he thought about Scarlet being near Levana, the angrier he got. His grip on the tomatoes got tighter, and he didn't let up until he realized he had dented the can. Squeezing his eyes shut tight he pulled the can closer to his heart. Scarlet, please be okay, he thought to himself.
"Wolf," he barely stirred in the bed at the sound of his name. He felt the bed lower under the weight of whoever just sat down at the edge of the bed. He felt a hand gently rub his back and he felt like crying. Curling up in a ball with the can of tomatoes tucked tightly in the middle, he held his breath, wishing the pain would end. After a moment he let out his breath and rolled over to tell whoever was in here to leave, but froze when he saw who it was. Scarlet was a mess, her vibrant curls looked like they hadn't been washed in weeks and she smelled of sweat and blood. She looked absolutely beautiful. He launched himself at her, pulling her close, breathing in her scent and sobbing into her shoulder.
"I'm okay, you're okay" she whispered soothingly into his ear. "We're all okay, it's fine. Wolf shhh," she sounded tired, exhausted even. Holding her at arms length, he took in the sight of her. His memories didn't do her beauty justice, she was more radiant than the sun. Tears streamed down his face and she reached up to wipe them away. "Wolf, you have to listen to me," she spoke quietly, her voice low and urgent. "somethings very wrong, I don't know what it is, but I feel it. Be careful, okay?" Scarlet reached up, cupping his face in her hands and pressed her lips gently to his. His heart sped up and his eyes fluttered closed, his hands falling to her waist. When she finally pulled back. She smiled weakly at him. "I love you. Be careful, okay?" he blinked and she was gone. He looked around the room, frantically searching for her. The only evidence of her ever being here was the tingling on his lips and the warmth in his chest. He stood in the middle of the bunker blinking confusedly when the door to the bunker crashed open and Cinder nearly fell over from the weight of her metal foot. Her hair was a mess and the ever present dirt smeared on her face and she looked completely exhausted.
"Wolf," she said, breathlessly. "We found her. She's okay."
