'Twas the night before Christmas, all through the tower dark
Not a creature was stirring, except Tony Stark;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The Captain was nestled all snug in his bed;
While visions of Bucky from before danced in his head;
And Natasha in her 'kerchief, and Clint in his cap,
Had just settled their brains for a long winter's nap,
When down below on the street there arose such a clatter,
Wanda sprang from her bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window she flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
What did her wondering eyes did leer,
But at a giant of an alien that just did appear,
With a golden gauntlet and six Stones he had,
She knew in a moment he must be Thanos the Mad.
More rapid than eagles did his unearthly gems glow,
And he called them by name and the power did flow:
"Now, Mind! now, Space! now Power and Reality! Watch them all crawl!
Now kill away! kill away! kill them all!"
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When he was meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the helipad the giant flew
With a handful of death, and his madness too—
And then, in a thud, everyone heard on the pad
The explosions made the building shake like mad.
As she drew in her breath, and was turning around,
Down the walkway Thanos the Mad came with a bound.
He was dressed all in gold, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A gauntlet of gold he had flung on his hand,
And he looked like a monster about to backhand.
Vision came up from behind, his gem glowing bright.
Hulk roared and ran straight into the fight.
Falcon bounds into the skies
while Wanda's magic flies.
Thor leaps into action
and Loki created a distraction.
Facing the might of the full Avengers team,
Thanos could only scream.
Backed into a corner,
he shouted," I will take this no longer."
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave them to know that they had everything to dread;
But everyone heard him exclaim, as he rose out of sight—
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
