Clary POV

I'll just be your brother from now on. Those words had been haunting me since that day in Taki's. I sighed as I plopped down on the kitchen stool next to Isabelle. "Clary we're going shopping for Magnus's party tonight. I have nothing to wear" Isabelle said. I highly doubted she had nothing to wear. She probably just wanted to get out of the Institute. Who wouldn't? Ever since Hodge took off none of the Lightwoods were the same. They most likely felt betrayed, because they were. Especially Jace. He had barely spoken since Valentine took him. "Why are we even going to another one of his stupid parties Iz?" asked Alec. "I thought you wanted to see Magnus" Isabelle answered. Alec shot her a furious warning glare after glancing at Jace. But Jace hadn't seemed to notice the comment. It made me wonder if he knew Alec was gay or not. After a moment, Jace stood and strode out of the room.

I quickly finished my breakfast and followed. I walked down the dark hall and found Jace sitting on the floor. He smiled as I approached. "Hey" he spoke softly. "Just couldn't resist my charm long enough to stay away Fray?" I rolled my eyes as I sat down next to him."Jace, I've been meaning to talk to you about something…" I trailed off awkwardly. He smirk disappeared. "What?" "That day in Taki's, well I didn't say…I mean, I don't want-" "Clary what are you talking about?" Jace interrupted. "I don't want you to be my brother." He grinned and pulled me into a kiss. "Am I interrupting something?" Isabelle called out. I blushed as Jace pulled away and grabbed my hand. "Yes actually, you are." "Well too bad. 'Cause I'm taking Clary shopping. You can kiss her when we get back." And I knew by the look on his face that he would.
