Hey there. This is a birthday fic dedicated to Sarah, who draws like a maniac. (Hi Sarah!) I don't usually write Kataang because I ship Zutara, but I promised I would do a Kataang fic with no sarcasm whatsoever. And here it is.
Standard disclaimers apply.
They lay there, hands entwined, and stared lazily at the sky. More specifically, stared at the clouds in the sky as they drifted slowly past.
Aang lifted his arm and pointed one out to Katara. "That one looks like a saber-tooth moose-lion."
"You're right, and the one next to it looks like a turtle-duck."
"Hey, that one looks like Appa!"
"… That is Appa."
"Oh… right."
"Is it just me, or does that cloud look like a fluffy bunny?"
Aang turned to face her, a grave look in his eyes. "You better hope not. The fluffy bunny cloud foretells doom and destruction."
Katara managed to meet his eyes for a few seconds before they both broke down and started laughing. They calmed down a few minutes later and resumed their cloud watching.
A few hours later, the sky became tinged in the pinks of sunset, signaling the end of another day. The pair got up to rejoin their friends and help with dinner. Walking back to their camp for the day, they both gave a contented sigh. There were still things to do and evil to defeat, but for that day, none of it had mattered. They were free to simply be together and enjoy a day of watching the clouds that represented the blending of their elements so well. It was the days like these that they both cherished. It was the days like these that allowed them to grow closer. They separated and went about their pre-dinner tasks, but they would both glance occasionally at the sky to catch one more glimpse of the clouds before the night hid them away.
And there you have it. Happy birthday again Sarah =D Even though I'm several months late, I'm still more punctual than your sister.
