Just a short little drabble I came up with while hearing my college's symphonic band. Strange it came out kinda angsty.

Don't own the awesomeness that is FFVII and its characters, that privilege belongs to Square Enix.

Maybe it wasn't because he cared but that didn't matter in her eyes. He was there and that was all that seemed enough for her. That and his very presence made her feel giddy. The sadness in her eyes disappeared if only for a few moments, before she remembered the reason he didn't care at all. Not about his friends, nor her feelings for him. Not that she had ever come out and said anything, but she was pretty sure she was being really obvious since Chocobo head had even commented on what he didn't or wouldn't recognize.

It wasn't fair. Why couldn't she help carry his burden? Why did he have to shut her out from his life? Why did he have to continue to treat her like a child even though she was no longer one?

She always forced herself to smile at him and crack some sort of joke. She knew that the smile didn't reach her eyes, but even so no one ever really noticed. She was the one that was always upbeat no matter what, the one that never lost hope, the one that annoyed the others until they would temporarily forget about their troubles. They only saw the happy façade, never the sadness, fear, and frustration she buried as deep as she could because she was The Great Ninja Yuffie, The White Rose of Wutai, and nothing could bring her down.

Nothing that is but a certain uncaring emo wannabe vampire that couldn't leave the past well enough alone and try to concentrate on the here and now.
