AN: ok, this seriously took me, maybe, ten minutes to write. And the inspiration I got for this is from giselle-lx's story "Form 1040". This is a short little one-shot full of that warm feeling inside. ;D

Disclaimer: Even though I asked Santa, I'm still not Stephenie Meyer.

I felt a smile flit across my lips as I stared at the happy scene before me.

It was a rare, sunny spring afternoon, and my family was using it to their extent. Emmett and Jasper were wrestling…again. Alice and Rosalie were sitting on a blanket talking about the shopping spree they were planing for next Saturday. Edward and Bella were in the shade of one of the ancient oak trees that graced our property and were entertaining Renesmee, by telling her the story of how they met.

All the while, everyone was sparkling like Renesmee and Jacob's glitter glue catastrophes.

I chuckled to myself. I listened to Esme in the kitchen making lemonade for when the wolves showed up. For, no matter what they thought, were part of our family, from the moment my granddaughter was conceived.

I still couldn't believe that a little less than ninety years ago, that I had no one by my side. And I had all of this to thank to a woman minutes away from death, pleading with me to save her beloved son, at all costs, even if meant he had to become something not human, something that most likely damned to the fiery pits of hell. No, Carlisle, don't think that way, I mentally chided myself.

As I sat on the edge of porch, I smiled slightly as I remembered what it took for us to get to this happy place.

It was like a complicated stew full of herbs and spices made up of pain, hope, and happiness, all mixed together to make my world topsy-turvy.

I mentally sighed; everyone in my family has what they wanted. Even if they don't realize it. My beautiful wife has the caring, loving family she always wanted. Emmett and Rosalie have each other and the same for Edward and Bella, and Alice and Jasper. We had a growing, small child in our mist.

As I smiled at my children and my granddaughter, I felt a hand land, softly, on my shoulder.

I looked up at my lovely wife, her caramel hair pulled into a lose bun with a few tendrils hang lose, a smile gracing her face.

And I knew, no matter what, I would always have my family.

Till the end time, and beyond, because our family is one that is closer than, probably, any other, and be there in any emergency. And go to any lengths to save those we love, even if it means leaving them, so help.

And as I scanned the meadow in front my home, I knew those words were more true, than anything else.

I put my mouth next to Esme's ear and whispered, "Lets go and join them, my love."
