Didn't expect to be able to write again so soon. But I was supposed to meet with my group for this group project thing. And they didn't show. And I spent the time writing this little story. So yeah, you can thank my incompetent group partners for this.
PsychedelicMonoChrome: I completely forgot that they call Zeref emperor instead of king cause they're almost the same thing to me. So thank you so much for pointing that out :)
Enjoy, my fellow Zervis trash XD
He didn't know what to do after she died. He didn't particularly feel like going back to his country, even though he did have some responsibilities as emperor. He just couldn't bring himself to care anymore. It wasn't like his people weren't already used to him being away most of the time anyway.
He had preserved her body in a crystal, like he had done his brother. He toyed for awhile with the idea of bringing her back. He had never succeeded in truly bringing someone back to life. The only way he had brought Natsu back was by bringing him back as a demon.
Somehow Zeref didn't think Mavis would appreciate that.
She was all innocence and youth and beauty. She belonged dancing in the lovely bloom of spring amongst the faeries she loved so very much.
It was Zeref who belonged amongst the demons. He who spread despair and death everywhere he went. Even Mavis, with her immortality, wasn't spared from his darkness.
He laid his hand on the crystal. Seeing her like that, still and lifeless, brought tears to his eyes again.
"I wish that I was the one who died," he muttered.
He wanted to die.
He wanted to destroy everything.
"Argh!" Zeref clutched his head in pain. "What-"
What had he been thinking about?
He didn't remember.
Mavis had died and he had-
What had he been doing?
Zeref fell to his knees, the pain in his head still not subsiding. He groaned, resting his forehead against Mavis' crystal.
A comforting, warm sensation washed over him. He didn't know how to explain this sensation but it made the pain disappear. It felt like the warmth of a cozy hearth. It felt like the gentle rays of the ever-bright sun. It felt like puppies playing in the mud and the laughter of small children and faeries dancing in the meadows. It felt like-
Mavis.
Zeref's heart soared.
"Mavis, is that you?" he asked aloud.
Silence greeted his question. There was no audible answer but-
He felt like she had said yes.
'I'm here.'
Zeref smiled. He couldn't hear her - How he wished he could hear her voice - but he felt her answer, as clearly as if she had voiced it herself.
'Yes, I'm here.'
'I'm with you.'
'Forever and always.'
Thanks for reading. Reviews are always welcome XD
