Misa searches for the perfect valentine gift for Light. It must be perfect- only something perfect could prove to Light her love.

She wanders through the town, asking for advice from the employees at pink-heart decorated stores. They ask her to describe her boyfriend- unable to give them anything more specific than "the most amazing person alive, the love of my life" they point her to the lingerie aisle, or hand her a box of chocolates, tell her to send a sweet card declaring her love.

She settles upon chocolate, dark, rich chocolate because Light doesn't like sweet things.

Misa makes him a card herself. Painstakingly, she writes the kanji for Light's name, with a brush dipped in gold ink. Signs her name underneath it- draws hearts, conveys her happiness.

And carries her bundle of emotions to the task force building- to her floor, where she is hidden away, always.

Misa places the chocolate on her bed and waits. For Light. He seems to never come- it's valentines' day, he must visit her today though.

And the door opens- Light, her light, connected to Ryuzaki by that chain, that chain that keeps her away from Light.

Ryuzaki nervously hangs back at the limit of the chain, while Light wishes her "happy valentine's day" and takes her in his arms and whispers sweet nothings. She gives him her present- he says that the card is beautiful.

She tells him she loves him.

He kisses her one more time and a spark jumps between their lips- static electricity, discharging into the metal chain.

And Light leaves- Ryuzaki silently trailing behind.

She watches Light go. He never looks back.

Misa realizes that he never gave her anything.

AN: I just had the worst valentines day of my life yesterday.

When I'm heartbroken, I write from Misa's point of view. When I'm in love, I write Matt/Mello.

He's reduced me to writing depressing fanfics.

Sucks that I love him. I really relate to Misa now ;A;
