I wrote this for English extra credit.
It shows Juliet reflecting on her relationship with Romeo, structured around a poem.
Everyone does realize Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet and you understand that he's dead, right?
Good, just checking.
Love
A passion that overcomes the best and worst of us
Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? The son of a Montague, my greatest enemy. Believed by my family, to be the scourge of the Earth. Yet, thou dooms me with thy charms. I canst live without thee now. Two enemies intertwined by fate.
A mysterious power
Ruled by no one
Romeo, how come we to such a stage. What directs us and finds amusement in such a cruel hoax? Neither the parents of thou nor mine own will approve, leading us to our concealed life. Our life of shared love.
Seemingly random
Yet there must be some pattern
To the web woven over the world
Wherefore chosen were we? Our lives as one, we are now a single being. Forged in the fire of our love. Yet, thou must feel it too, that there is some greater reason for our love.
A drive for us all
Sparing none
Overcoming all barriers
All fall victim to love, no exceptions exist. We plunged within it, fearing not the consequences, yet now I fear what may happen. The feud of thy family and mine own is proof of their tempers. Mayst they leave us be? But no, I fear their knowledge will come with a price. Let it be as long as possible. This deception can live longer than us if necessary.
Causing as much harm
As it does good
I cannot seem to banish the deep dark fear within my breast, dost thou feel naught? There seems no limit to this farce of life without you. Cannot we be open in our dealings. Dost thou have other reasons for concealment? Hast this been all a game for thee? Fears borne in mine heart. Canst thou do naught to banish them?
Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Mine own love may yet cause my demise.
