Bon Voyage… My way!
Rory stood up to the podium. Her beloved town wanted her to give a speech of course. Unfortunately, she didn't expect this farewell party so she had nothing prepared. She smiled at her mother and allowed herself to be flooded of memories. She began to remember of loves found, loves lost, friendships made, endless movie nights, town festivals and coffee from the diner across the street she'd become fond of and was surely going to miss.
"Thank you all for everything you've done here today. I truly am thankful to you all for the last twenty two years. This town has always made me feel that I was part of a large family and was always helpful to my mother and I. Each and every one of you holds a very special place in my heart. To my grandparents, I have only been able to know you in the last seven years, but it feels like a lifetime. I'm thankful for all the help you've given us in the last seven years. I will definitely miss Friday night dinners. They were not in vain. I love you both so much. To my mom, Loralai Gilmore, I am so proud to be your daughter. I can only be thankful for you being such a wonderful role model. I can't deny that I am just like you. My success is your success and I will truly be grateful for all you've done. I love you, mom. As I embark on a new adventure in my life, I feel that I am closing a chapter of my book and starting a new one. I do not know where life will lead me…"
Rory looked up at those who she called her family and saw a familiar and surprising face. He was standing next to Luke, smiling and encouraging her to continue.
"Did you call him", Loralai asked Luke once she pulled him aside.
"Yes", Luke answered.
"But-"
Luke quieted her with a kiss.
"What.", Loralai was speechless, "what was that for?"
"I love you Loralai Victoria Gilmore, I've loved you forever and I'm not about to let you go again", Luke said, "Marry me?"
"Luke…" Loralai stammered, "Yes... I'll marry you..."
Luke kissed her again. And they both faced Rory and watched her continue her speech.
"… But wherever life may take me I know you'll always be in my heart."
Rory smiled at the love of her life, Jess Mariano, before stepping off the podium. She walked to him.
"Hi."
"Hi."
Rory smiled and leaned into him. Rory and Jess kissed for the first time since they saw each other last at Truncheon. Jess cupped her face and kissed her more passionately in the middle of the town square, with everyone watching.
Memories flood the young couple of the last six years they knew each other.
Rory giggled into the kiss and Jess looked down at her and kissed her again. He picked up and hugged her tight. He finally had the girl of his dreams right where he wanted her. He wasn't going to let her go again.
Bless The Broken Road
By: Rascal Flatts
I
set out on a narrow way many years ago I think about the
years I spent just passing through Now
I'm just rolling home That God blessed the broken road
Hoping I would find true
love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped
my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign
pointed straight to you[Chorus:
Every
long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart
they were like Northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your
loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the
broken road
That led me straight to you
I'd like to have the time I
lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my
hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a
grander plan that is coming true
Into my lover's arms
This much I know is
true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to
you
That led me straight
to you.
