Prologue – A Promise Never to be Broken

"Do you wish to live? Do you wish to live in this world where there are tears and sadness? It's a cold and lonely place, don't you think? But I want to live. I want to stay here, in this cold and lonely place I don't want to die. Not yet. Could you stay here with me?" a small she-kit whispered, turning around. Her icy eyes bored into mine.

I was speechless. They looked so sad. So lonely. I never met this kit, I've never heard of this kit, I've never seen this kit, but why do I want to stay with her? My blood seems to scream at me to follow her. To protect her. To sacrifice myself for her. To love her. I stand, frozen, my eyes locked with hers. I couldn't speak, but I knew the answer from the very start.

I will stay here with you and protect you. Sacrifice myself for you. Love you. For ever until my end. I promise.
