The End of the Music

Kinda AU since I haven't read the comics that came after the series so not totally sure what happened to all of the characters.

Disclaimer: The characters mentioned in this story do not belong to me I am just borrowing them for a second.

To say Angel was shocked when he got the call is an understatement. If someone had been calling to tell him that one of the others had died he might have been able to believe it. But the death of this person was a total shock. So he started making calls to all of the people he knew who would care about the death of his friend. He told them all to meet at the hotel and that he would tell them what happened when they got there.

About thirty minutes later and the first person arrived. Wesley had been kind of surprised when he got the call to come to the hotel, but when he looked at Angel he knew that something bad must have happened. He tried to get Angel to talk but Angel said he would have to wait until the others got there.

About an hour later everyone had arrived. Angel slowly got everyone's attention and told the group that he had received a phone call and that it was bad news.

" I was told by one of Lorne's employees that Lorne collapsed at his club last night. A doctor was there when it happened and was able to get Lorne to a safe place so that he could take care of him. Unfortunately Lorne's heart was beyond repair and he died." To say that everyone was shocked by what Angel had just said was putting it mildly. Lorne was the last person in their group that they expected to loose. And that he died of a heart condition was even more of a shock!

They all decided to go to Lorne's new club and rent it out for the night. They spent the night singing and telling stories about the good times they had all had with their lost friend. While they were able to laugh at their memories of their friend the entire group knew that something was missing. Lorne had been the heart of their group and with his death they were just going through the motions of being happy. When the group left for the night they left one light on in the building. The light was shining on to the stage that was empty of all but a stool and a microphone. It almost seemed that if you listened hard enough you could here a lone voice singing a sad song in farewell.

Author's note - Sorry that this story is not as good as it could be. I will try to rewrite it sometime in the future when I am not as in shock as I am now. I just read on the Internet that the actor who played Lorne passed away on Sunday March 29. His name was Andy Hallett and he was only 33 years old and died of heart disease. I met him once at a convention and he was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He was really down to earth and very funny. The world has lost a really nice person and my heart goes out to his family.
