Dead Squirrel

A dead squirrel says what?

Xigbar shot it.

Xigbar shot it dead.

Most people can shoot birds. But Xigbar decided to go against the norm, he decided to be as x-treme as possible!

Demyx happened to stumble upon the scene, looking up at him with wide, unblinking eyes. Then he'd drop his gaze to the little creature, blown clean in two by one of the sharpshooter's bullets.

"...It's dead," he said.

"Obviously," Xigbar replies.

The dirty-blonde boy strode forwards, dropping down next to the grisly sight, frowning as he gazed upon the poor creature with some small amount of pity. He speaks, his voice soft, "Did you have to kill it?"

"Yeah," he replies, bending down next to it with the child-like teenager. "It only hurt for a second."

"But it still hurt," he counters, looking up with a soft, sorrowful expression. No, mock sorrow. He can't feel anything, really.

"Everything hurts," the other stated though now a tad unsure, "it's dead now, kid. Stop dwelling on it."

The Melodious Nocturne nods, poking the still warm fur, splattered with blood. "What sound did it make?"

"What do you mean what sound did it make?"

Demyx looked up, his eyes serious, his expression still that torn look of sorrow, "What sound did it make?"

"Uh, a thump?" He suggests, reaching over to touch the boy's hand, to move it away from the dead little creature.

"No," the blonde shakes his head, drawing his hand back to his chest, "before you shot it."

"..."

"Well?"

"It screamed."

That was the best answer he could give.

"I see." Demyx moves to stand up. "And what sound does it make now?"

"...Nothing." And for once, that sound isn't music to his ears.

The younger Nobody nods, his expression brightening as the other realized the error that he had committed. "A dead squirrel tells no tales." And then he was off, exiting the jungle that Marluxia had created before his death. "And a dead Nobody speaks no words."

...And wasn't that the truth.
