Disclaimer: I don't own Torchwood
A/N: This is my first Torchwood fic, please be kind. It's kind of different from my usual style… well actually this whole thing is stepping away from my usual field so please handle it kindly. This is for a wonderful person out there, she knows who she is :D
Summary: Janto pairing. A drabble of promises, forever and everything in between.
'Will you promise me forever?'
It was almost infuriating how the other man would smile that shy smile of his and ruffle his hair affectionately while sidestepping the question at hand. "Would you like some more coffee?" he asked as he moved away to the kitchen. His own sanctuary.
'Forever and ever.'
It had been a long day with constant rift activity. He'd come so, so close to losing his right arm and possibly more. He ran his hands through his hair murmuring sweet nothings. "We made it!" he exclaimed finally, as the adrenaline left him, over and over into his ear. "We did it."
'Promise me.'
"Promise you'll come back?" he demanded staring at the one he loved as he readied his weapon.
His lover smiled, "I'll do my best," and disappeared around the corner with Gwen following behind as backup.
'It's such a long time.'
They looked up into the stars, fingers interlaced. "They go on forever. I think that they'll never end," he breathed into the cold air. As he looked out of the corner of his eyes he could see the awe and appreciation on his face.
"Ah, but in like five billion, or was that trillion years? Oh well, either way there will be none left and human hope rests in going to a place called Utopia," he murmured softly in reply. His mind was somewhere else on a distant memory. He was jostled back to reality when he felt his shoulder being shoved and turned surprised eyes to the one he was with.
"Don't ruin the moment," he said loftily, but his eyes twinkled with amusement and worry for him.
'Keep your word.'
Two hands laced together in the dark. Giving and taking comfort as dim lights reflected off the silver bands adorning their ring fingers.
'Or don't make it at all.'
The sky turned grey up above as it growled threatening. He stood next to the upturned earth staring unseeing at the simple headstone, right hand hanging down at his side just barely holding on to the flowers. "What about forever?"
