Confidence
As she entered the large office she was full of nothing but confidence. She lacked the expected nerves that usually came with the first day at work. Instead she was more excited than anything else.
Around her stood messy desks and crowded walls with images of creatures of every kind staring at her from every angle. In a corner stood a large stone statue of a centaur, so similar to his gold partner floors above in the Atrium.
The Department's Director guided her kindly to the cleanest desk in the office. Upon it were many ornaments, each showing a different breed of creature. They were magical of course, as everything was in the Ministry of Magic, and they were chasing each other merrily across the desk top with a brutal-looking Manticore in the lead.
"I'll have Filliby fill you in on a current house-elf case," her director smiled before he trotted away happily.
Hermione grinned as she looked around, relaxing in her chair.
And as she watched a spotted man with leopard-print robes quickly approach, she sighed and held her breath. For one moment her confidence slipped but her brain sprung back quickly with assurance.
She was nothing but proud to be in this place and she knew that it was where she belonged.
