Jessica Grey sighed as she watched her long time friend turned pupil torture his apprentice for the sheer sake of entertainment, excusing herself from her finders she walked over to the red headed General placing a gloved hand a top his head silencing his antics and shocking everyone around.

"After all I've taught you, you're still causing trouble aren't you?" Jessica raised an eyebrow as Cross tried to give her one of his famous grins frowning when she merely steered the flamboyant General away from the group her hand still on his hair the look on her face leaving no room for argument.

"Why you just couldn't wait to get me alone could you" Cross mused only to be slapped in the back of the head for his efforts. He glared at his friend and mentor, when he arrived at the order at a young age of thirteen; Jessica was a shy two years older than him but had surpassed some of the best Exorcist in skill and strength. The raven-haired exorcist had one day saved him from getting his face re arranged by an angry Finder and thus the teacher/student relationship was born. Cross owed all he knew to his Sensei, not that he'd admit such a thing to a single soul.

"I know a mask when I see one" Jessica whispered as the red headed Exorcist fell to his knees trembling once she closed her private room doors behind her. This place was a room Headquarters couldn't bug without causing a war of cosmic proportions, Jessica was a Grey, and the rightful head of the Black Order but her family pulled strings behind the scenes giving the Vatican certain powers.

Cross reached out whimpering, his entire body was on fire, he had been tortured and questioned for hours but he had nothing to hide. The Vatican knew all he could do, what were they searching for? Cross looked up when he felt a cool compress on his fore head smiling weakly when Jessica pulled him to his feet with little effort on his part. She was the only one who saw this side of him, he could let his mask fall around her and not worry about it being exploited upon.

In reality there was only one woman for Cross Marian and she was currently applying a bandage to a wound on his side. He had told his Sensei of his lover for her years ago and when she had merely nodded in agreement and returned to her work he mistook it for rejection and ran away from her and the Order. He of course hadn't been in control of his emotions and she had to rescue him from certain death by the Earl, once again, she had then explained to him that she was closely monitored by the Vatican and she had a job to do, she couldn't afford to have her cover blown but she had told him if they survived the war, she'd have a drink with him. Cross took that as an "I love you too" and hadn't let up on the woman to his day.

Jessica turned to hand her friend a new shirt when she was swept up into a strong embrace and a passionate kiss, the older General heard the pins that held her hair back fall to the ground as her black hair was released from its confinement while Cross Marian stole her breath once more.

". . . Cross. . . I can't" you know that" Jessica rested her forehead against the man in front of her, she was about to pull away when he tightened his grip before burying his face into her neck and at that precise moment Jessica could feel the pain vibrating off her friend, see the trembling that shook him to his core.

"Just give me five minutes . . . please. . ."

"Ok Cross, five minutes"

Jessica stood there her fingers tangling themselves in her secret lover's hair content with five minutes, cause in this war five minutes could feel like an eternity.
