A/N: Tadaa! This is a short ficlet written at 8am on my phone because I didn't want to get up. owo
The first chord was gentle, a soft sound for comfort, reassurance.
The second was even softer, a whisper of goodbye.
The third was the loudest, a promise to see each other again.
The sound echoed around the small room, in an isolated corner of his house. It was void of anything except the piano and the stool he sat on.
The piece picked up speed all of a sudden. This was where emotions had been struggling to comprehend what had been going on. His fingers worked magic across the keyboard, turning his emotions to musical notes for all to hear.
Except, no one would hear them. As his piece came to an end, Tadase opened his closed eyes and played the last note as delicately as he could.
Sometimes he wondered if he should play in front of his friends. The other Guardians would enjoy it and Amu - well, she seemed to have a thing for musicians.
In the end it was pride that kept his talent secret. He had begged and begged his mother to let him have piano lessons, so that when his Ikuto-nii-san came back he would be able to play together with him.
After Ikuto's betrayal he wanted to stop playing. But it seemed that through the years he started playing for himself, not for Ikuto. He started composing bits and pieces of his own music.
His compositions were always soft and gentle when he first started, but as his character started becoming stronger, so did his pieces.
Kiseki didn't approve of his skill being kept for himself, it would be very kingly after all to show off to 'all those commoners'.
Maybe one day he would play for his friends; he had forgiven Ikuto and still wanted to play a duet with him; he had always wanted to impress Amu with something.
He closed his eyes again and started playing another piece. One he composed just after his graduation.
Someday - but not now.
A/N: Maybe I'll add more to this fic - Tadase playing after different events happen. Hoped you enjoyed!
