I do NOT own Danny Phantom! All rights belong to Butch Hartman! This happened AFTER Phantom Planet!

"But," Valerie began to protest to her father, "do you have to go to work? Even on Christmas?"

Damon Grey sighed, placing a hand on his daughter's shoulder. "I really don't want to stay in this run down apartment as you do, Valerie. In order for us to barely even survive. I have to go to work. You can understand that, right?"

Valerie sighed with defeat. Ever since Cujo had (literally) wrecked her father's working place, it had been hard for him and his daughter to spend time with each other, especially since he worked nights. This predicament had forced her to spend every night alone while she was busy at her home, alone, while her father was busy trying to raise enough money.

Taking her answer as a yes, Damon lifted his head and walked out the door of their rotting apartment of a home. As soon as he closed the door, Valerie walked over to her bed and plopped herself onto the medium-soft mattress, grimacing at the rough texture against her stomach.

Valerie couldn't help but shed a tear at the thought of her loneliness she was going to have to bare tonight. Her father couldn't even spend enough money to buy a simple, small Christmas tree for them to decorate. The more she gazed at the empty walls, the more she felt miserable.

"Psst!" a voice whispered from her open window. Valerie lifted her head to see Danny Phantom phasing through her house and entering her room. In his hands was a green-and-red wrapped box.

"Fenton?" she asked, more curious than she was angry. In fact, all of her previous hatred for Phantom had instantly faded into joy when he had revealed his secret to the entire Amity Park. Ever since then, she had become more friendly, open-minded, and even helpful after the willing exposure of his secret. It was only that she would welcome him into her home. "What's up?"

Danny smiled with joy. "Valerie," he began, clearing his throat, "I know we've had our struggles in the past, but would you mind putting all of our conflicts behind us?"

"Of course, Danny," Valerie beamed before wrapping him in a surprising hug. She didn't care if he was in is ghost form. She didn't mind that he had hugged her back. All she cared for was the welcoming surprise greeting she had received this very moment this.

As soon as Valerie released her hug, Danny pulled the present underneath his arm and held it pout in front of her, which she happily accepted with a smile. A tag read "To: Valerie, From: Danny", causing her heart to thump with joy. With her nails, she tore off the red-and-green wrapping, casing a plain white box to reveal itself. Pulling off the top of the box, she gaped in joy as she saw what was her awaiting gift. Laying in the very middle of the box was a golden right with a blue diamond perched upon the tip.

Valerie gently grabbed the ring with two fingers, held it in front of her eyes, and read the engraving on the inside: "Val & Danny: Besties". The ghost-hunter, still holding the ring on her fingers, beamed with extreme joy and gratitude and threw her arms around the ghost-boy. "Thank you, Danny," she whispered in his ear.
