New York was dark that night. A girl, maybe eight was lost in the park. She'd gotten separated from her mother and father about two hours ago and she was trying to find them, in vain. She was scared. She wrapped her jacket around her tighter. I'm never going to get home. I want my mommy! The little girl thought. She sank to the ground and cried. She was crying for maybe ten minutes when she heard a noise. She looked up startled.
"Hel-hello?" she asked with wide eyes. "I-is any-anyone there?" Then one figure came out. She recognized it as a giant turtle. Now she was even more scared. He came up to her and kneeled down to her level.
"What are you doing here all by yourself little girl?" He asked in a kind tone. He had the softest and nicest brown eyes she had ever seen.
"I-I g-got lost," she whispered.
"You got lost?"
She nodded.
"Are you hurt?"
"I don't think so. I-I just want my mommy and daddy." she started to cry. The turtle couldn't stand to see this little girl like this. He decided to help the little girl.
"Can you tell me where you live? I could help you, if you like," he told the girl gently.
"Really?" she looked at him with hope in her eyes. Donatello nodded.
She stood up and took the purple clad turtle's hand.
"I live by the Art Museum. Can you take me there?" the little girl said.
"Okay, I can take you there. But we'll have to go by roof top, okay?"
She nodded, "I'm Rachel."
"I'm Donny. I'm going to have to carry you. Is that ok?"
"Sure Donny. Just don't drop me." He chuckled as he picked her up. As they began running on the rooftops. Rachel held on for dear life.
"Is this it Rachel?" Donny asked as they came to a stop by a window. It showed a kitchen and two parents worried sick on the phone. She nodded as he let her down the fire escape. She started to go and knock on the widow, but stopped and turned back toward Donny.
She hugged him.
"Thank you so much Donny." she said and kissed his cheek. She gave him a toothy smile before turning towards the window. Donny smiled and got out of sight, but stayed to make sure she got in.
She knocked on the window. Her parents saw her and rushed to open the window. "Rachel" they both screamed.
"Mommy! Daddy!" She gave them a hug. They took her in and shut the window.
As Donny was walking home, he repeatedly put his hand to the cheek that got kissed. And he couldn't stop smiling.
He was appreciated by a human.
