Kenzi sat at the bar at The Dal, wondering where the hell Bo and Trick went. Just as she was pouring herself a shot of something tasty, someone sat next to her. It was Hale, her heart rate quickened a little.

"Drinking alone today, huh Lil' Mama?"

"Looks like it, Bo and Trick are dealing with some fae business. I chose the bar instead," she smiled at him.

"What do you say we steal some beer and go get drunk at your place?" Hale smirked.

"I'm down," she said as she leaned over the bar and grabbed what beer she could find while Hale enjoyed the view of her black mini-skirt.

"Hey, were you sneaking a peek at the goods?" Kenzi playfully accused him.

"Maybe," he smirked.

She took that as a hint that they need to get out of there and started walking towards the door.

"Better keep up, Siren," she called behind her.

They drank and kissed, and drank and kissed, and drank and kissed some more, until it got a bit too intense. Hale sat leaning against the head of Kenzi's bed with her head in his lap, he stroked her hair with a kind of affection that was dangerous. It was for the first time, probably ever, that Kenzi had felt genuinely safe and secure. She felt safe and secure with Bo, but there was always some kind of danger lurking, but right now she felt nothing could touch her.

Hale broke Kenzi's train of thought, "Lil' Mama, what made you run away from your family?"

Kenzi inhaled sharply, "Could we not get into all that, I thought we were having a moment. Also, I think my body might reject all that beer pretty soon."

He caressed her cheek and he felt a small smile manifest itself there. "I just want to get to know all of you, Kenzi. The good and bad."

"Well baby, be prepared, because this," she gestured up and down her body, "is all bad. I'm bad to the bone."

Hale chuckled; it jostled her body softly as she smiled.

"For realsies though, I left because I didn't feel safe or anything, it basically sucked balls."

He looked down at her. It must have been bad if she thought that streets were a better deal.

Kenzi sat up to face him, "Look, Hale," she broke eye contact with him and looked down at her hands that she was fiddling with in her lap, "I, uh, have been through my fair share of shitty experiences. It's hard to talk about." She brought her eyes back up to meet his, he could see she was trying to mask her emotions, but the drunkenness was making that hard for her.

He grasped her hands in his, "Kenz, I don't wanna open old wounds, I just want you to know I'm here for you. Always."

"I know, babe, I know," she said and reassured him with a kiss.
