Disclaimer: I DO NOT, I repeat, I DO NOT own any of the Twilight series or its characters. Which means that I don't own Bella OR Edward (-- Though I wish I did) Oh dear did I say that out loud?

AN: I wrote this out of a dream my sister had of Robert Pattinson at his scariest. Dedicated to my sister, hopefully she doesn't read the rest of my work... *Gulp* My first Twilight fanfic, my first Bella x Edward fic, my 5th fanfic altogether (-- Wow I swear I need to stop).

Don't run

Cold sweat dripped off the tips of Bella's fringe and onto her face. She's been running for hours now... And it's been getting more and more difficult to keep going as the sunlight has completely disappeared. Replaced with the night sky, the atmosphere in the woods has become ominous and dangerous. But then... everywhere seemed dangerous now that Edward was hungry.

Bella stopped by an old decaying tree trunk to catch her breath.

'Can't stop now,' she thinks to herself, 'He can hear me. He can smell me... He will find me.'

Still panting, she realised that the woods were silent, apart from the chirping of the crickets and the occasional scuttle of critters in the dark landscape.

'Thank God he can't hear my thoughts,' she thought once more, 'Otherwise he would have found me by now.' She knew she couldn't take any chances.

Suddenly, a huge flock of birds frantically emerged from the forest's canopy, which startled Bella and almost made her heart stop. This was a sign that Edward was close... Very close.

She began to run again, daring not to look back in case she hit a tree. Fearing for her life, Bella kept running and felt as though her heart might leap out her chest at any moment.

"Oh Bel-la...?"

Panicked by the familiar voice, Bella stumbled and landed on the muddy forest floor. For a split second, on the cold and slimy muck, Bella thought, 'Oh God... He's found me.'

But she persisted. She pushed her self of the ground and ran some more.

Unfortunately for her, the next few metres of the forest led her to a rocky cliff face. A dead end.

She stopped, her heart beating a hundred miles a minute. In her last attempt of escape, Bella clawed at the cliff side, frantically trying to climb it. It was no use.

"Bella..." She froze and turned slowly.

In one second, she saw his dark and sinister image three yards away. In a blink of an eye, he was inches from her face. She gasped and backed into the large rocky cliff behind her, her eyes fixed on the hungry, menacing eyes that belonged to her beloved Edward Cullen.

He advanced on her, dark rings around his eyes and a stone like expression on his face. He was angry.

"Why did you run, Bella?" he whispered, slamming both of hands against the rock on either side of Bella's head. The earth shook at the impact.

"Why?" he repeated, clenching his jaw.

Bella wanted to close her eyes, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from his face. It was over for her.

He sniffed her scent and licked his lips.

"Good girlfriends never run..."

[End]

AN: If you don't like the ending, I'll extend the story. Just make sure that you mention it when you R&R.
