Sticks and Stones

Walking back from the library, inconveniently after curfew, Lily Evans heard voices. She recognised them, but couldn't really place whose they were at the moment. Just as she began to round the corner, ready to deduct points and hand out detentions, she felt a hand clamp over her mouth and another hand pull her back into a tiny alcove that was usually covered by a blue and bronze tapestry. Her eyes widened, and she nearly lashed out at the person, before she got a good look at his face.

He removed his hand from her mouth and put a finger to his lips. "Stay quiet, Evans. You don't want to be found by that lot at the moment."

"What on earth are you talking about?" Lily demanded in a low voice.

"They're Slytherins. Given your status I severely doubt that they'd even think twice about hexing you, so just wait until they've passed by before you leave," he whispered as the voices got even louder. "Look, be careful would you? Try not to be out after curfew these days. Use your head, love." With that said, having ignored Lily's roll of the eyes, he looked left and then right, before deeming it safe and loping away.

Lily nearly crashed into him as he came sprinting around a corner, one day.

"Oi, watch it, you twat," she said angrily.

He looked relieved to see her. "Evans! Thank Merlin. Listen, if anyone asks, I was-"

"You!" Argus Filch shouted out. "You stop right there!" Filch grabbed a hold of the prankster's ear, and attempted to drag the boy away, ignoring the yelps of pain.

"Mr Filch!" Lily exclaimed with a roll of her eyes. The boy looked too pitiful to not help. "I don't believe that he has done anything wrong."

"Evans, this miscreant has defiled-"

"He can't have defiled anything, as he's been with me all morning."

Filch stopped. "W-what?"

"Did I stutter?" Lily said impatiently. "You'll probably find your 'miscreant' elsewhere, so you can leave now."

Filch said, "I'm warning you, you little brat, one day, I'll catch you red handed." He stalked away, muttering vehemently.

"What in the world did you do?" Lily said after he was well out of sight.

"I may or may not have tossed a few dungbombs into the Ravenclaw common room." He looked unnecessarily pleased with himself.

"That's horrible!"

"Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you saved mine. We're square."

"You didn't save my life."

"Even if I didn't exactly save your life, you definitely saved mine. I think that Filch would have hung me up in the dungeons by my thumbs." He gave a shudder.

"Whatever you say, Black. Whatever you say."

And Sirius Black grinned.

I'm not too sure about this drabble (Do I say that a lot?)… I think that I might come back to this later and change it. Anyway, this was written for Toujours Tu's The Movie Quote Drabble Challenge on HPFC. My quote was from Pirates of the Caribbean, 'Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you saved mine. We're square.'

If you could give me any constructive criticism, that would be awesome

Hope you enjoyed! R&R!

Love,
