Aaron Burr saw the mailman come up to his door. His hands shook as he opened the door and took the letter that could change everything. This was it. The delegates had cast their votes, and this was the moment where the Presidency was decided. Aaron knew that Alexander Hamilton had fiercely gone after him, rallying for Thomas Jefferson, and attacking him for a "lack of values". Aaron ripped open the letter and quickly read its contents. His face fell. Thomas Jefferson had won. Burr was to be the Vice President. At this moment in time, Aaron's daughter, Theodosia chose to walk into the entry way, on her way to the living room. She paused when she saw her father clutching a letter, a look of murderous intent on his face.

"Father, are you alright? You look rather ill" Theo probed cautiously. Burr looked up with rage and sorrow filled eyes.

"How does Hamilton, an arrogant, immigrant, orphan, bastard, whoreson, somehow endorse Thomas Jefferson, his enemy, a man he's despised since the beginning, just to keep me from winning?" Burr snarled

Theodosia was shocked at the nasty outburst that had come out of his father's mouth. This was not the Aaron Burr she knew, the one that had rarely come out with strong opinions on much of anything.

"This will be Alexander's last mistake."

Aaron angrily grabbed a pen and paper. On it, he wrote

"Dear Alexander,

I am slow to anger, but I toe the line, as I reckon with the effects of your life upon mine. I look back on where I failed, and in every place I check, the only common thread has been your disrespect"

Theodosia knew those words. What they could do. Those were fighting words. She couldn't let this continue.

"Father, surely there is a better solution to all of this. Fighting is not the answer here"

Burr, still furiously writing, stopped to look at his daughter. His beautiful daughter, with her mothers eyes. She was the reason why he fought, every move he made was for her. So her mother could live on in her.

"Theodosia, my beautiful daughter. This is the only way. 30 years of disrespect from Alexander Hamilton is unacceptable. He has insulted me, and put me down at every possible turn. He is an arrogant, ignorant man, who seeks only power for power's sake. He must be stopped." Burr said with conviction. Theodosia was on the verge of tears, but she collected herself.

"Father, are you sure about this?"

"Absolutely."

"Then be safe. Come back home when you're done"

Theodosia kissed her fathers's forehead and walked into the living room.
