Summary: Fache's thoughts right Silas death.
Trust
Bezu Fache looked at the body of the albino monk. His pale eyes were still open but were completely devoided of life. Like glass marbles. From what he heard of this man's life, it had not been a pretty one. Parents both died when he was seven, lived in the streets until he killed one sailor, then imprisoned in Andorra. Of course, Bishop Aringarosa had helped the albino but if you considered the Father's own words, he did it only because he needed him to kill the four guardians of the Prior.
In other words, this man's trust had been abused. His devotion made him susceptible to all kinds of manipulation. He had been used by the only people he trusted and respected. Bishop Aringarosa and the Teacher. They had taken profit of Silas's (that was his name, wasn't it?) absolute loyalty and made him a murderer. Somehing he was trying to avoid becoming.
The French Police officer could not understand how the Opus Dei numerary had supported being used like that. Unless he didn't notice. Fache's thoughts froze there. He didn't even notice… They told him lies so often he would believe them…
Fache told himself he did not have time to ponder the life of Silas. He had a person to catch. But he would consider the faith of the corpse of the man before him. He gave his word.
Sooooo….. What do you think? It's not great but it's not bad either. I just finished reading and watching The DaVinci Code and I thought Silas was used by his superiors and I made Fache consider that.
We hope you review and enjoy the flight. (ding)
